 A Typical School Day

A Day in CBS

It all starts once I wake up at about 7:15am and struggle out of my bed and get my uniform on. I loosen up my tie and fix my blazer. I take a slice of toast before racing out of my house to my bus stop. When it’s a cold day I shiver up and down but when the bus comes I rush on it happily jump on the bus and get ready for a magnificent day ahead.

We get dropped off at the bus depot and we all have to walk the rest of the way which gives us a chance to talk. When I arrive I go to the canteen to get some delicious breakfast which we pay for using the finger scanner. For me the pancakes are the best but that’s just me. I eat it in the canteen then I walk to my form room and wait for my form teacher.

Once the teacher comes I take out my diary and she signs it and checks if I was absent during the week. She gives out important messages and sorts out any problems. After 15 minutes of form class other subjects begin and I get carried along through the huge crowd to get to my first class.

Our class has Art first period. I get my sketch pad out and my HB and 2B pencil and get down to business. In all classes we open our book and show our homework to our teacher and even sometimes the teacher gives me plus points for good homework. When that class is finally finished I tidy up and hurry to our next class. I do the same as my last class and get out my books and pens because one you get to secondary school you have to use pens instead of pencil. I enjoy doing group work so you can ask for help and still able to talk and learn at the same time.

After two classes we rush like wild animals down to the canteen to get something because the line is always HUGE so you wouldn’t want to be late. Break lasts for 15 minutes and this gives everyone time to meet friends not in their class but then it’s back to normal classes. I wait outside my next class and the teacher is usually a little bit late (they like their coffee!).

After that class I rush to my next class and then it’s lunchtime. If you’re a Year 8 you get out 15 MINUTES EARLIER!!!!! But for everyone else it is 35 minutes long. I leave my bag in my class and I rush out to get some lunch. I have an option of sandwiches, rolls, chips or pizza. All are very tasty. Again, I have to pay for it using the finger scanner. Chess club is on Tuesdays and Fridays at lunch time which is taken by Mr White. The ICT room is open every lunch time for students like me to print off homework. Sometimes we have super league where classes face each other in a match of Gaelic, soccer or rugby the winner gets points for the class.

When the bell rings at 1.35pm, it’s time to get my bag and go to my next class. It’s two more classes before the Year 8s get out 3 minutes early to get down to the bus depot to get our bus. At 3:45 the bus leaves and I set off back home.  Phew, another hard day over!
