Our Visit to see Minister O’Dowd

Our Visit to see Minister O’Dowd

Last Wednesday 7th December we drove down to Belfast after being invited to attend a reception in Stormont in recognition of our achievement of getting into the BT Young Scientist Competition. We were going to meet Minister O’Dowd at Parliamentary Buildings in Belfast along with all other successful applicants from Northern Ireland.

We arrived at Stormont and were escorted to a room were we were placed into groups for a guided tour of the STEM Lorry and Parliament Buildings. In the lorry there was equipment for the entire STEM subjects Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics which we got to try out for ourselves. It was very enjoyable and gave us an insight into these important subjects.

We were shown around Parliament buildings and even got to sit in the chamber where the assembly meet. We were then spoken to by Minister O’Dowd, who talked about the competition and the STEM subjects.

This was a very enjoyable experience and a day out that we will remember for a long time.

Mark Bradley and Sean Bradley.
